Creating mandalas began as a mindful meditation practice. After some time, I became interested in the significance of each drawing and what happens within the circle. Ebbs and flows - the relationships between colors, symbols, and artistic elements in the middle of the creative process. I am self-taught and am continuously learning about the art of mandalas as well as sustaining a mindfulness meditation practice. As part of my creative process, I observe and reflect on the ways everything interconnects and intersects. I observe the composition of an object, the minuscule elements that make it what it is. I draw from these elements and ideas to create the mandalas.
Hand-painted mandalas are one of a kind, primarily oil on pallet wood.
Computer graphic mandalas are also original works, and can be ordered in multiple dimensions (beginning at 6 inches). These are printed on canvas, and hung on floating frames. Every frame is hand built by Annette, out of reclaimed/repurposed wood.
